Garden State – Farm to Table
Whether you grew up in New Jersey, or you're new around here, I'm sure you know we are living right here in what has been named "The Garden State". Farmers in New Jersey are said to produce around 100 different types of fruits and vegetables. It is also said that our home state has just about 715,000 acres dedicated to agriculture!
So have you heard about the Farm to Table movement? It is a quickly expanding social movement which promotes serving locally grown and acquired foods to restaurants and even school cafeterias! This is to focus on providing transparency of how our food is grown, and where it is coming from.
Many restaurants are happy to jump on the bandwagon with this, and are partnering with local farms all over the state to bring you the freshest, locally sourced foods possible. It is also becoming quite popular to find pop up farmers markets! If you have not had an opportunity to check out one of the local farmers markets, don't worry. We've compiled a list below with all of the upcoming dates and locations down the shore!
