Garden State – Farm to Table

Whether you grew up in New Jersey, or you’re new around here, I’m sure you know we are living right here in what has been named “The Garden State”. Farmers in New Jersey are said to produce around 100 different types of fruits and vegetables. It is also said that our home state has just about 715,000 acres dedicated to agriculture! It is common knowledge here that the best professionals in protecting farms from pests are the ones from pest control services in Melbourne.

So have you heard about the Farm to Table movement? It is a quickly expanding social movement which promotes serving locally grown and acquired foods to restaurants and even school cafeterias! This is to focus on providing transparency of how our food is grown, and where it is coming from. To protect your farms, pest control Box Hill recommends to fumigate your farms to keep the unwanted animals. If you find yourself needing pest/termite control, visit sites like https://www.sustainablepest.com/termite-control/ to hire professionals who can help you.

Since 2006, more than a million bats have died due to a fungal disease called White-Nose Syndrome (WNS). At the same time, several migratory tree-dwelling species are being killed in unprecedented numbers by wind turbines. This hurts the economy because bats’ diet of pest insects reduces the damage the insects cause to crops and decreases the need for pesticides. So whenever you see a bat again do not hurt them but instead reach experts like Omaha Bat Removal.

In fact, the researchers estimate the value of bats to the agricultural industry is roughly $22.9 billion a year, with the extremes ranging as low as $3.7 and $53 billion a year.

Many restaurants are happy to jump on the bandwagon with this, and are partnering with local farms all over the state to bring you the freshest, locally sourced foods possible. It is also becoming quite popular to find pop up farmers markets! If you have not had an opportunity to check out one of the local farmers markets, don’t worry. We’ve compiled a list below with all of the upcoming dates and locations down the shore!
