The south end of Absecon Island
Longport is the southern end of Absecon Island, which it shares with Margate, Ventnor and Atlantic City. The town runs from Point Park at 11th Street north to Coolidge Avenue, where Margate begins.
It's a small town, about 0.4 square miles of land per the Census Bureau, with the ocean on one side and the bay on the other.
Most of Longport is single family homes, with a handful of oceanfront condo buildings. Ocean Plaza at 27th and Atlantic is one of the best known, with 120 condos on seven floors. Part of the oceanfront is lined by the seawall, a wall of rocks along the ocean that sets Longport apart from the rest of the island.
